Franklin County, MO (October 6, 2024) – The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating a tragic fatal crash that occurred Saturday afternoon, where a driver reportedly struck the victim’s vehicle and left the scene. The incident took place on Oak Grove Church Road, north of Mill Hill Road.

According to crash reports, 41-year-old Jody A. Pierce of Salem, MO, was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:57 p.m. The crash reportedly happened around 4:38 p.m. as Jody Pierce was traveling northbound in a 1999 Ford. A 2009 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Donald A. Pierce, 45, of Union, MO, was following behind her.

It remains unclear whether the two drivers, who share the same last name, are related. A spokesperson for the Missouri State Highway Patrol indicated that there is no information available regarding a potential familial relationship, and the crash is part of an ongoing investigation.

According to the report, Jody Pierce’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the road. Upon returning to the roadway, it was struck in the rear by the front of the Chevrolet Impala driven by Donald Pierce. Following the collision, the Ford traveled off the left side of the road, overturned, struck a tree, and then went down an embankment, ultimately coming to rest submerged in the Little Meramec River.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Jody A. Pierce during this incredibly difficult time.
